Cimarron Gold Keys
The Cadillac Cimarron was Cadillac’s first compact luxury car. Based on the GM J front-wheel-drive platform, it was offered from the 1982 through 1988 model years. During its seven-year model run, 132,499 Cimarrons were built.
The Cimarron was introduced with a 4 cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. A V6 was later added, but the lack of power, poor handling, and weak braking limited the car’s appeal to European import buyers. The lack of size and luxury limited the car’s appeal to traditional Cadillac buyers.
From 1982 to 1986, the Cadillac Cimarron used either the ‘J’ or the ‘A’ ignition key and the ‘K’ or ‘B’ door, trunk, glovebox key. From 1987 to 1988, the Cimarron used the ‘C’ ignition key and the ‘D’ key for the door/trunk/glovebox.
