Allante Gold Keys
The Cadillac Allante was offered from 1987 until 1993, with roughly 21,000 models built over its 7-year production run. The body of the Allante was designed and built by Pininfarina in Italy and air-shipped via specially equipped 747 to the Detroit Hamtramck Assembly plant where the bodies were mated to the chassis.
The biggest change for the Allante over it’s lifecycle were the engine offerings. The Allante was offered with several different V8 engines. A 4.1L Overhead-valve V8 with 170 horsepower was initially offered. In 1989, the displacement was increased to 4.5L with 200 horsepower. In 1993, a 4.6L Northstar V8 with Dual Overhead Cams and 290 horsepower was offered.
The Allante had it’s own keys for the 1987 and 1988 model years. A VATS ignition key was used from 1989 to 1993. The door, trunk, glovebox key remained the same the entire lifecycle, but was never offered in gold.
